DAVID ROBERTS, RA(1796-1864)
David Roberts is a Scottish painter. Best known for his painting The Holy Land, which depicts landscapes in areas such as Syria, Arabia, Egypt, and Nubia, he sketched during his long journeys through the region and produced a series of detailed engravings of Egypt and the Near East, as well as similar subjects large oil painting. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1841.
