Xue Qilong, an immigrant from Guangdong, along with other settlers, planted a large number of peach trees in the area then known as Hu Mao Zhuang (around modern-day Taoyuan District). When the peach blossoms bloomed, the sea of flowers was like clouds, creating a landscape covered in peach groves. This led to the area being named Tao Zai Yuan, which is now known as Taoyuan. Thus, the peach blossom became the city flower of Taoyuan City.
