He served in the Imperial Painting Academy during the Xianfeng era (mid-19th century). He excelled at portraiture and also adeptly painted flowers, birds, and landscapes. His reputation was highly esteemed, and Empress Dowager Cixi once bestowed upon him a plaque inscribed with "Master of Capturing Likeness" in her own hand. This particular painting is one from the "December Flower Deities" series. Rendered in color, it depicts a peony and a root-exposed orchid, both emerging diagonally from the left edge of the frame, dancing in the breeze. Shen's floral paintings often employed rich colors, but this piece utilizes a delicate wash technique without outlines, preserving the peony's opulent appearance while also conveying its elegant and refined charm. | Specifications Dimensions: H10 × W14.8cm Packaging Material: OPP Bag Product Material: Fine Art Paper Quantity: 1 piece/pack Origin: Taiwan
