Ash glaze is made from various wood or straw ashes.
The earliest use of ash in glaze can be traced back to the Shang Dynasty in China
More than a thousand years of history
The surface texture has glassy and glazed characteristics
The appearance is easy to present a natural earth green glaze color
Making ash glaze requires complete burning of plant materials
To obtain wood ash is about 1% of the original wood mass
That is, burning 1 ton of wood can produce about 10 kilograms of wood ash.
The method of making gray glaze is to burn a huge amount of wood, grass, and rice straw.
The ash is then collected and sieved.
Ceramic artists all have their own wood ash recipes
By mixing different proportions of wood ash
Get control over the final glaze texture and effect
