The one thread weaving enables the knot being unbreakable, and commonly used in tightening stone pestles. However as the forest law in Taiwan starts to prohibit people from collecting rattan, the tribal weaver elders pass away without passing down the weaving techniques to the youngers. The woven artist Rara Dongi and Kamaro’an designers therefore attempt to take advantage of genuine leather, which has the same material characteristic as rattan peel, to continue the traditional tribal weaving techniques. https://i.imgur.com/Ntf65UF.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jMuSxNr.jpg **Kamaro'an** Kamaro’an is a lifestyle brand of furniture and household products which uses the Amis traditions as their point of departure. In Kamaro’an, every design is inspired by the tribal artist’s works, every piece of products is crafted by the local community. We offer respectful payroll to local weavers, and share profits with artists. -
