This is the 7th entry in the Chinese Hairpin Brooch Series.
The subject chosen this time is "Zhuo Wenjun." In some variations of the Four Beauties of ancient China, she is sometimes counted as the "Beauty who makes geese fall" (Luoyan) instead of Wang Zhaojun.
Zhuo Wenjun was the wife of Sima Xiangru, a famous writer of the Western Han Dynasty.
She is celebrated in Chinese history as a talented woman who devotedly supported her husband, helping him rise to success and gain recognition from the Emperor.
To be honest, she might not be very familiar to many people in Japan (and I admit, I wasn't familiar with her either initially...).
However, among the Four Beauties of China, whose lives often ended in tragedy, Zhuo Wenjun married the person she loved and seemed to have lived a reasonably happy life.
Since the other stories are so tragic, I wanted to create at least one piece representing a happy person... and that is how this brooch came to be.
The design is based on gold and pink to express brilliance and happiness.
Also, since she is another interpretation of the "Luoyan Beauty," I scattered some of the same parts used in the "Luoyan Beauty" brooch (inspired by Wang Zhaojun) but in different colors.
Even so, I designed it carefully so that the overall impression is completely different (after all, they are different women).
The three connected fan-shaped parts are ingeniously linked so that when you hold them, they flutter gently like a butterfly flapping its wings.
This represents the romantic beginning of their love story, starting with a letter Zhuo Wenjun received one night from Sima Xiangru, whom she secretly admired.
(Romantically enough, it is said they fell in love at first sight and the feeling was mutual from the start!)
The pink coral-like resin roses and Swarovski pearls represent her single-minded devotion to love even in adversity and her hidden passion. The white Swarovski pearls symbolize her pure heart in protecting her life with her beloved.
The base features yellow-green Cloisonné beads, which tighten the overall impression so it doesn't become too sweet.
I hope the Cloisonné enhances the Chinese atmosphere and brings out the intelligence of Zhuo Wenjun.
A silicone brooch stopper is included for your peace of mind.
The paper underneath the item in the 5th photo is postcard-sized for scale.
☆ Starting from this batch, the color of the leaves on the Cloisonné beads has changed from green to blue (see 6th image).

I tried to make each piece in the Chinese Hairpin Brooch Series unique.
I chose the "hairpin" (kanzashi) as a motif to represent these women because hair ornaments were likely cherished personal items that reflected the owner's character and taste.

◇ ◇ ◇
Due to the structure, the dangling parts may get tangled. If they do, please untangle them gently.
Each Cloisonné bead is unique in its glaze application, color, and pattern.
Also, the base metal may be slightly visible in some areas. Please understand this beforehand.
In this product, the perforated base (shower base) is intentionally left visible as part of the design.
The parts are attached to the base with nylon thread.
You may feel them move slightly, but they are secured so they will not come off. Please use with confidence.
All metal parts are plated, so please be careful not to polish them strongly with a cloth containing abrasives during care.
When not in use, please store it in a zippered plastic bag to enjoy its original condition for a long time. Leaving it exposed to air may cause discoloration of the metal parts.
Unless otherwise noted, product photos are taken in natural light.
