Pakistani Jade Bead Necklace (61.5 cm length)
Old mine jade with a warm luster • Drilled with ancient methods and fine holes ✨
These old jade beads, common in Pakistan,
have also been unearthed in the Myanmar region,
belonging to a local, very hard jade ore.
Testing with a steel knife of hardness 5.5, it cannot be scratched,
and when used to grind quartz and minerals,
it is the quartz that grinds into powder,
suggesting a hardness of at least 7 degrees or above.
Observed under a 20x magnifying glass, the surface
reveals leather-like patterns, an orange peel texture,
and small pitting from soil erosion, signs of burial.
It is personally estimated to be over three hundred years old,
with a history of at least five to six hundred years.
The drilling method is the old-fashioned iron tube drill,
with one end of the hole larger and the other smaller.
It is recommended to use a steel wire for easier threading and beading.
Paired with vibrant, blood-red glass spacer beads,
these are antique, over a hundred-year-old
Indian white-core (white heart) red glass beads.
The total length of the necklace is approximately 61.5 cm,
suitable for wearing alone or layering with other antique beads.
