When I was a student, I dived in the southern sea for the first time.
Amami Oshima, Ishigaki Island, and the Kerama Islands of Okinawa.
The surface of the water sparkles in the sun, the blue is so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom, and the deep blue of the sea becomes deeper as you get deeper.
The bubbles that rise to the surface with each breath of the divers also sparkle in the sunlight.
No matter how many times I dived, I never got tired of it, and the sea gave me new impressions every time.
While remembering that color, I made this glass drop by layering various translucent blue glasses.
Finally, the fine sterling silver foil is wrapped to evoke the sparkle of water and bubbles.
Although it is a small drop, I thought of the endless ocean that I experienced at that time, and chose the title "Grand Blue."
I create a small workshop in a corner of my living room, and use a burner to melt the glass.
I feel that the gentle curves created by glass's stickiness, gravity, and centrifugal force, as well as its transparency, are unique to glass.
The bottom of the glass is slightly flattened so that it can stand on its own as a figurine.
It will sway when you touch it, but you can display it without any problem.
Delicate and elegant natural colors. It's difficult to express it exactly as it is, and I can't say that I've succeeded in it, but I create it in the hope that I can express even a little of the emotion I felt there in my work.
By a sunny window, on a desk, at the entrance...
We would be happy if you could display it in your favorite place and enjoy the transparency, color, and soft form that only glass can provide.
