Originally I was very content with just finding what we had set out for, but after my ink painting class last year, I was full of interest for different types of new materials! In each lesson, the teacher would prepare a variety of cute daily objects, such as magnolia flowers of the teacher's home, orange skewers with cute leaves in the traditional market, or Chinese chestnut skewers sold at roadside stalls. Since I originally loved to shop at the flower market, the ink class only made me even more inclined for a shopping spree. Each stall had tulips of purple, pink, white, and orange for sale, which all went home with me to be joined in my flowering vase. Fortunately, once I uploaded an Instagram story of the flowers, a friend that operates a flower shop reminded me that tulips do not need too much water. There are so many colors, varieties, and they are very absorbent of liquids, meaning that you can dye white tulips blue, with the delicate texture which is exquisite! So, I just could not stop at my original plan of drawing 30 flowers, producing two whole volumes in total. Warm colored tulips, mainly white, yellow, orange, pink, red tones, are first given a finely drawn outline with ink. Then, with very light gray ink shadows are drawn. Because the warm tones should not have too much ink color which might make the overall appearance look dirty.
