Vintage handpainted Boerenbont pasta plate / soup bowl made by Boch from Belgium.
The traditional Dutch Boerenbont design has a very recognisable pattern. It comes in a blue, green, red, and often yellow, design on a white background. This design was first painted by Dutch farmers' wives over 150 years ago in Maastricht for Petrus Regout's dinnerware. Boerenbont literally means "farmer's colourful".
All Boerenbont from the last century marked "Boch" is fully handpainted, and the items marked "Royal Boch" that were produced this century have a printed pattern. The original, handpainted pieces have therefore become collector's items as handpainted Boerenbont made by Boch is not produced anymore.
The marks on these items were in use from the late 1960s to the 1980s. Each piece measures 24.5cm in diameter and is 3.5cm in height. They are in good condition with surface marks due to usage, minor production flaws and possibly some discoloration due to aging. The photographs are a part of the description.
As our Boerenbont pieces were, possibly, made at different time periods and were handpainted by different artists, there can be slight deviations in mark, material thickness, pattern design and colour.
Dimensions: 24.5cm x 3.5cm
