𓊆 A moment of slipping, a moment of heartache. 𓊇
𓊆 Learn Kintsugi repair, and you can use it for a lifetime! 𓊇
.
Beloved objects, used daily, can sometimes suffer accidental chips or breaks. Instead of carefully packing the fragments for disposal, there's a traditional method of repair called Kintsugi. Repaired ceramics can return to your life and be used again. This natural lacquer repair for ceramics is gentle on the object, leaving no secondary damage, and is resistant to acids, alkalis, and high temperatures, making it unlikely to peel. Every broken item, like scars on a person, can tell a story. If scars are a person's medals, then cracks are the medals of the object.
.
𓊆 A more sustainable and mindful way of living! 𓊇
Kousan Craft utilizes agricultural waste oyster shell powder in the repair process as a filling material for chipped areas, making the most of resources and integrating sustainability into the object's life. Broken items, bonded by time and natural lacquer, regain a new appearance, embodying a "cherish-all" consciousness that avoids waste and a "Wabi-sabi" aesthetic that embraces imperfection.

Workshop Description
Notes
Workshop Notes:
1/
Participants should bring 1-2 items for practice, preferably small objects with a maximum longest side of 20cm. **Objects with broken handles or more than five fragments can be discouraging for beginners. If you need to confirm if your item is suitable, please call 04-23264147 before the course begins.**
If you do not have an item to bring, we will provide small ceramic pieces for practice.
2/
Completed Kintsugi repairs will feature one gold finish (using imitation gold powder, not suitable for food contact) and one silver finish (using pure silver powder, suitable for food contact) to learn the use of different decorative materials.
As the size of the repaired area and decorative ideas vary among participants, you can seek the instructor's advice during the course. If you wish to use "pure gold powder" for decoration, the price of 0.1g of pure gold powder is subject to market rates and can be purchased additionally in class on the fourth session.
3/
Raw lacquer will be used during the workshop. Due to individual sensitivities, skin allergies may occur, so please consider this carefully before registering.
Once payment is completed, we cannot offer rescheduling due to personal reasons, nor do we allow observers or trial sessions, as this may disrupt the class. The primary material used in Kintsugi repair is "natural lacquer," which requires air exposure to cure naturally through oxidation. Therefore, the course progresses weekly, and there is no mechanism for makeup classes. We strongly recommend attending all sessions. In case of unavoidable absence, we will provide a 30-minute summary of the missed content at the beginning of the following week's class. Please do not be late or leave early on the first day to avoid affecting the class progress and the rights of other participants.
The course consists of four consecutive Wednesdays in October, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, totaling 12 hours (3 hours per session x 4 weeks). Each session is crucial, so please do not miss any!
4/
Registration is confirmed only upon completion of payment within 3 days of signing up. Failure to make the payment by the deadline will be considered a forfeiture of your spot without further notice.
Kousan Craft will send a reminder notification via private message 2 days before the first class; no further reminders will be sent.
In the event of unforeseen circumstances such as epidemics or natural disasters (e.g., typhoons) leading to a government-announced suspension of work and classes in Taichung City, the class will be postponed. The make-up class schedule will be arranged based on the instructor's availability. Please ensure you provide accurate contact information (email and phone number) for communication. If you cannot attend the make-up class, no refund will be issued.
5/
Please bring your own bag or storage box to take your work home after the last session. Kousan Craft is not responsible for storage.
6/
Please avoid wearing light-colored or valuable clothing to the workshop. We recommend bringing an apron and applying lotion or a barrier cream to your face and hands before class.
7/
The NT$5,300 fee covers venue rental, instructor fees, and materials used in class. Tools are provided for loan. If you wish to continue practicing repairs after the course, you may consider purchasing Kousan Craft's "Kintsugi Repair Material Kit."
