Among thirty hamsters, only the cheerful Mochi at the center meets our gaze. It conveys the message: "Despite whatever life brings, your inherently positive self remains centered," and "You can always return to that core." Like "Mochi" in the illustration, may our hearts and bodies, in their many facets, in their myriad moments, in their diverse states, always be able to believe in ourselves. These sentiments are entrusted to the "Mochi" golden hamster and the Veronica flowers. The title is, "Don'na Kimi mo" (No Matter Who You Are). The words that follow can be interpreted in various ways, depending on the person and the situation; we would be delighted if you perceive them as words spoken by yourself, or as words directed towards yourself. The genus name of the Veronica flower, "Veronica," is said to derive from the name of a legendary saint, Veronica, who, according to biblical legend, offered a cloth to Jesus Christ as he carried the cross on his way to the crucifixion. The flower's meanings – "Faithfulness," "Trust," and "Purity" – are also linked to the story of Saint Veronica. This connection to "never abandoning trust, no matter the circumstances" resonates deeply with the theme of this artwork. The golden parts of the Veronica flowers are meticulously finished by the artist's direct hand, applied to the finished giclée print. We invite you to enjoy the sparkling brilliance of these flowers.
