Regarding the term "Royal Vienna" (Royal Vienna), the Western antiquities circles called a Western porcelain production style from the 1870s to the early 20th century, and did not refer to a specific kiln. However, most of the kilns that make this style are located in more than a dozen kiln workshops in eastern Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. They have superb flower decoration and painting skills, and they have produced porcelains that are still being collected by collectors. object.
The Vienna Kiln (Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten) is the second porcelain kiln (founded in 1717) after Meissener Porzellan in Europe. The kiln is located in Schloss Augarten, Vienna. From the perspective of the development of art history, the products of the Vienna kilns can be on the same level as those of Meissen and Nymphenburg, which can be said to be the best porcelain in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and modern Austria. After the kiln was founded in 1717, it experienced Baroque, Rococo, Classicism, Biddermeier and other styles. In 1864, the kiln was closed due to financial crisis because of losing to outside competition. In 1923, it continued to re-kiln production under the name of Vienna kiln, and cooperated with many artists to produce various kinds of exquisite porcelain.
After the Vienna kiln was closed in 1864, the craftsmen of the kiln were scattered all over the place, returning to the old industry, and in order to cater to the aesthetics of the emerging middle class after the Industrial Revolution, the original blue shield badge trademark of the Vienna kiln was misappropriated (most of the Vienna kilns were Underglaze blue color, and these craftsmen who embezzled the Viennese kiln mostly used overglaze blue color), designing many gorgeously decorated, complicated crafts and exquisite painting porcelain, including vases, porcelain plates, porcelain cups and porcelain plate paintings.
This cocoa porcelain cup has a unique shape. Through the superb drawing process, the delicate four-leaf half-shaped body is completed, and the carcass is slightly thin. Afterwards, the cobalt blue on-glaze painting is applied to complete the vine leaf flower decoration, and the gold and flowers are dotted. It is a rare porcelain cup. The gold traces are slightly worn off, and the overall cup condition is still good.
