After three years of quiet reflection during the pandemic, I embarked on the grandest journey of my life in 2023. Why do I call it a grand journey? Because the travel experiences of this year were particularly meaningful to me. It was the first time in my life that I packed camping gear, shouldered a heavy backpack, flew to the northern lands, and walked the King's Trail in the wilderness. I trekked over a hundred kilometers on this trip, the furthest I had ever walked on my own. In September of the same year, I accompanied my sister to her dream destination—Alaska. Together, we went to Denali National Park to see the mountains ablaze with fiery colors, took a train to Fairbanks to witness the Aurora Borealis, and crossed the Arctic Circle in a bumpy little bus. And at the end of the year, it was with my family that we set off on a road trip around the island. These days on the road, whether it was the vastness of nature or a simple meal shared with family, were, to me, beautiful scenes I wanted to cherish in my heart. The scenery along the way is a lifelong gift. Thus, I created this series, spending many nights and witnessing many sunrises.
