Double yarn tea towel / square green
I remember the first time I took the high-speed rail several years ago. When the train cut through the Jianan Plain like a knife, I felt like I was floating on a colorful grid, completely stunned by the square blocks of color below the horizon. It was the first time I had ever seen such vast and rich colors. It was like a giant cut-out color palette. The rice fields showed many different colors depending on the season and variety, forming a neat and beautiful picture. It completely disrupted my single impression that the color of the fields should be "green."
I saw an aerial photo on the Internet before. It showed a huge velvet carpet that was cut into several equal parts by organic white leaf veins. The seemingly single green was divided into hundreds of different color levels. It looked huge, tiny, yet very delicate. I checked and it was Ikegami. After arriving at the scene, I found that the visual experience from the aerial view was completely different from the personal experience. When I was in a boundless carpet, I had a strange thought, feeling "as if" I was in a rice field, but I was indeed in a rice field. This might be because of my weak experience of the vast reality, or perhaps because my sense of "vastness" is often limited to the sea or on an airplane.
Riding a bicycle slowly across such scenery will give you a very unreal feeling, as if it is a huge man-made work (it is indeed huge and man-made). This space surrounded by mountains has a very strong sacredness, as if it is a huge and spacious food temple, making me appreciate this hotbed that breeds food. Chihshang is a plain between the Coastal Mountains and the Central Mountains. The railway passes right through the lowest point between the two mountains. When you look out from the train, the layers of rice fields are like the remaining waves on a shallow beach, slowly and weakly approaching.
