"Rinpai" is a plastic art genre spanning four hundred years in Japan, and it is the least known Japanese art in Taiwan. "I have no resistance to Linpa art." —— Ikko Tanaka, founder of Muji
.
From Takaya Sota and Ogata Korin master Kanzaka Xuejia, they are separated from each other for a hundred years. Unlike other schools in Japan, there is a master-disciple inheritance. They only rely on the copying of the works and maintain the essence of the school, and several generations of masters have painted it. An interesting story from the same "Fengshen Thor Picture". Lin brought considerable influence to European Impressionism, modern Japanese painting and design, and played a pivotal role in the history of Japanese art.
.
Korin Ogata's art was introduced to Europe in the nineteenth century and became a representative figure of Japanese art at that time. From the representative work "The Kiss" by Austrian painter Klimt (1862-1918), it can be seen that the highly decorative style decorated with gold and silver foil was also inspired by Linpai, and then Mucha (1860-1939) also developed highly decorative works under its influence.

Ogata Korin
The appearance of Korin Ogata made this school of painting gain a solid position in Japan. Korin once studied painting in Yamamoto Soken of the Kano School, and was nurtured by her upbringing in calligraphy and painting. But after he came into contact with Zonda's painting, he immediately devoted himself to research and study. At that time, Japanese society entered an era when the emerging bourgeoisie became active in economic and cultural life.
In this era, Guanglin's art is becoming more and more mature, and his prestige is also increasing day by day. His representative works "Red and White Plum Picture Screen" and "Swallow Flower Screen" express the bright and refined decorative beauty of Japanese interest, and have become outstanding representative works of Japanese art. At the age of 44, Ogata Korin was awarded the title of "Faqiao", the highest honor for a painter, so his works are all signed with "Faqiao Korin".

Ogata Korin "Spring and Autumn Grass and Flower Screen" - right
From the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century, the Edo region (present-day Tokyo) became popular in the new Rinpa style, and the most prominent artist of this period was Sakai Hōitsu. Baoyi has been exposed to the elegant world of literature and art since he was a child, and is fascinated by the art of Ogata Korin. He even compiled the first Korin painting collection "Hundred Pictures of Korin", which has made great contributions to the follow-up development of the Rin School.
Koichi Sakai's works inherit the elegant style of Korin, while actively incorporating realistic depictions related to nature and seasonal changes. The work "Summer and Autumn Sketch Screen" presents the flowers and plants and the cold and meandering water in summer and autumn. Here, Bao Yi not only depicts the characteristics of vegetation and water flow realistically, but also delicately depicts the sense of nature produced by seasonal changes. These are the expressions that Linpai paintings did not have in the past, and they are truly innovative.
The painters who revived the Soda Korin School together with Koichi Sakai and his disciples, among them Suzuki Kiitsu, are known for his novel and unique style of painting. "Summer and Autumn Stream Picture Screen" shows the fresh vitality of nature: on the golden plane are rough-textured tree trunks, plump branches and leaves imply vitality, sporadic autumn leaves fall with the wind, and the chilling water is rushing and rushing... one of Suzuki's The works make Linpai art a little more natural and interesting in addition to its richness, and at the same time prove that the Linpai painting style of this period is quite different from the earlier ones.
