🌸 The Epitome of Japanese Ceramics
Seto Ware: The Homeland of Maneki-neko
✨ Originating from Seto City and its surrounding areas in Aichi Prefecture, Seto Ware dates back to the Kamakura period and is recognized as one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. Seto was a pioneer in developing glazing techniques and rose to fame with its ceramic Maneki-neko, to the point where "Seto-mono" became a general term for ceramics. It was designated a Japanese Traditional Craft in 1977 and incorporated into Japan Heritage in 2017. Its style is approachable and unpretentious, with diverse painted designs and forms, representing a charming presence that fits seamlessly into daily life.
