I love this feeling of exclusivity, where only those in the know understand its value (I might be a bit obsessed...). I personally adore this buckle. Up close, you can see its exquisite detail, something modern pieces simply cannot replicate! Combined with its regal, academic-inspired aesthetic, its collectible value is immense! Even among fellow enthusiasts, the chance of encountering a matching bag is incredibly low; it's difficult to even find another one... Celine is now part of the LV group, so the new designs we see have a certain uniformity and group identity. There's a whispered saying in the pre-owned community that everyone who buys pre-owned bags must have a Celine in their collection, precisely because their vintage pieces are so numerous and unlikely to be duplicated. (I personally feel that new models simply cannot compare to vintage ones, given the significant difference in craftsmanship and material quality. Machine-made parts lack the same level of detail. A direct comparison can be made by looking at the intricate patterns of recently reissued monogram designs versus those from older vintage pieces; the level of detail in the monogram alone is entirely different. If you love monograms, seek out pre-owned items! Truly! In terms of style, older designs were generally simpler, timeless, and enduring. Many new designs today are actually remakes of older styles. However, new models are priced higher than their vintage counterparts. Furthermore, new designs are typically based on older styles with added or altered elements, resulting in more complex designs compared to the originals. I believe as we grow older, we understand that simplicity endures! The material quality of older models is also superior to new ones. Anyone knowledgeable about leather can see that the materials used in new models are generally of a lower grade than vintage ones. This is mainly because high-quality raw materials are now very expensive and scarce, and brands back then had very high standards for their finished products. The difference between new and old hardware is most easily observed. The hardware on many new models oxidizes and discolors after just a year or two of use, but this is rarely the case with older pieces. Besides the high-quality materials and meticulous techniques, hardware from earlier eras was often plated with real K gold! Therefore, even vintage bags produced as far back as the 60s and 70s still have gleaming hardware today! Among the brands I know, none of the new models available today use K gold for their hardware. Many say that vintage bags are a form of alternative investment, rarely depreciating and often appreciating in value.
