Chawan

This tea bowl was made from local Taiwanese clay and then a traditional Japanese shino glaze was applied. Just after glazing I swiped my finger across the glaze, revealing the iron underneath the glaze. I also dusted some wood ash over sections of the bowl, adding another layer of interesting glaze. I love making tea bowls. The shape is simple but also not. Getting the shape to evoke a mood is the challenging part. My seal is stamped inside the foot ring.
