Taiwan's indigenous population has grown from 9 to 15 recognized tribes. Following the impact of the film "Seediq Bale," there's a rising awareness and appreciation for preserving indigenous culture and exploring the beauty of tribal totems.
Inspired by traditional indigenous attire, this design artfully weaves rich cultural heritage into your everyday life. Each wine bottle cover is meticulously crafted with exquisite embroidery, some adorned with bells, others featuring handcrafted weaving, and all showcasing the distinctive totems of various tribes. Unlike mass-produced items, the quality and intricate details are evident at every glance.
The wine bottle and its cover are designed to be detachable, with the cover fitting a variety of bottle sizes. Whether as a gift or for personal use, this design carries significant cultural heritage.
Taroko Tribe:
The Taroko people primarily reside in Xiulin, Wanrong, and Zhuoxi Townships in Hualien County, with a current population of approximately 30,000. Their society is patrilineal. Traditional Taroko society did not have distinct class divisions. They are known for their vibrant textiles, predominantly in red, black, and white, creating magnificent patterns. Taroko women's traditional attire features a white top and white sleeves, paired with a wraparound skirt. This skirt is woven with numerous colorful diamond-shaped patterns, symbolizing "the eyes of the ancestral spirits," and is secured with a waistband. White leg coverings are also worn. The Taroko believe that upon death, they return to the land of their ancestors. The colorful horizontal stripes on their clothing represent the rainbow bridge they traverse after death, while the diamond-shaped "eyes of the ancestral spirits" signify the blessings of countless ancestors, watching over their descendants. Thus, tribal members are expected to behave virtuously and speak kindly, lest they be seen by their ancestors.
