The strong men would bring back schools of fish, and everyone would celebrate with song and dance by the sea. Passersby could feel their immense joy, and this tradition passed down through generations is filled with touching legends. A long time ago, a brave warrior was shipwrecked and drifted to an uninhabited island. He longed and pondered daily but could find no way to leave. One day, a large whale suddenly appeared in the sea and said, "Let me help you!" The great whale then taught the warrior shipbuilding techniques, enabling him to finally return home and reunite with his family. Since then, during the annual fishing festival, the men would teach everyone shipbuilding and offer sacrifices of wine and betel nuts to express their deepest gratitude to the great whale. WasangShow incorporates the whale into indigenous totems, commemorating this beautiful ocean legend. The flying fish of the indigenous maritime people appeared in a dream to the elders, revealing methods of consumption, taboos, and rituals. The Tao people have followed these instructions for generations, and the flying fish schools have kept their promise, returning to the designated waters every March. The flying fish season is divided into three stages: the Fish-Calling Festival, the Storage Festival, and the Final Consumption Festival, embodying reverence for the natural environment and the hope for a sustainable ecosystem. A fisherman from the maritime tribes accidentally fell into the sea one day and drifted to an island inhabited entirely by women. He spent a few pleasant and happy days there, but one day while walking by the sea, he suddenly wept out of longing for his homeland. At that moment, a sea turtle appeared beside him and offered to take him home. The fisherman happily followed the sea turtle back to his hometown. He asked the sea turtle how he could repay this kindness. The sea turtle said that upon returning to his tribe, he should establish age classes and manage the tribe well.
