【Wood Firing】An ancient method of ceramic firing. During the firing process, elements like potassium, sodium, and calcium from the wood ash combine with the mineral elements in the clay at high temperatures, creating natural ash glaze deposits on the pottery. Wood firing reaches temperatures above 1300°C, where the fusion of clay and fire allows colors to flow naturally and mysteriously across the mug. The mug body develops a thin layer of natural ash glaze from the falling ash, presenting a transition of fire marks from orange-brown to grayish-olive. The mark at the base of the mug undergoes slight vitrification at high temperatures, retaining the unique rustic texture of wood firing. The piece is fired without overglaze, tempered by the long journey through the kiln, revealing natural ash deposits, fire marks, fly ash glaze, and scorched earth textures.
