"Neriage" is a technique in which colorful clay that has been colored with pigments is kneaded together and patterns are created using the centrifugal force and the expansion and contraction of the clay when pulled on a potter's wheel.
The patterns that are produced vary depending on how the clay is kneaded and the time and effort spent on turning the wheel, allowing you to enjoy the randomness that occurs at each stage.
This vessel is made using three-colored clay colored with red and navy blue pigments.
Unlike the other kneaded vessels we have on display, this vessel is a calm, pale pink-wisteria color, created by thoroughly mixing colored clay.
On the other hand, because the clay was not mixed in very much on the inside and base of the vessel, the colored clay creates distinctive patterns that serve as an accent for the vessel.
It is coated with a glossy transparent glaze and then firmly fired at 1250 degrees.
This is a cute, round sake cup, and you can enjoy its distinctive colors, which change depending on the amount of light it receives and the brightness of the room, appearing sometimes to be pale purple and sometimes to be pale pink.
Not only can it be used as a sake cup, but it can also be used as a "kozuki" (small dish), which is even smaller than a small bowl, to serve small appetizers.
I use a small electric kiln and an electric potter's wheel at home to make my pottery, and I do all of the processes by hand, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing.
Because the pattern varies from time to time, each piece is unique and no two pieces can be made exactly the same.
The item you receive will be the same as the product image.
To avoid damaging your table as much as possible, the contact surface will be sanded down before delivery.
Although it is difficult to see in the photo, this dish has some crazing.
Using various glazes and clays, I create a wide variety of pottery in different colors and shapes, searching for the best combinations.
It is impossible to create two identical pieces, so although they may look similar, each piece is unique.
I would be very happy if you could find your favorite.
We hope you enjoy the simple, warm texture of pottery and the unique colors of the kneaded product along with your favorite beverage.
