This process requires dozens of cycles of lacquering and polishing. It also makes the surface easier to maintain, preventing accidental ink stains from damaging the wooden body. However, this method incurs a higher cost. Most pens on the market are simply polished or waxed after turning; this level of intricate processing is exceptionally rare (natural grain, high-quality random selection). The nib is a German Bock #250 (#6) two-tone steel nib, meticulously handcrafted and modified by Lao Shanyao artisans into a calligraphy nib capable of producing distinct line variations, reminiscent of traditional brushwork.
