All sales are final. My understanding of Celine actually began with this CABAS tote. For the younger generation, it might be hard to imagine, but back then, it was even more popular than the recent monogram trend; almost everyone had one. It was incredibly famous! I’m truly fortunate to have witnessed it firsthand. I wanted one so badly then, but I was young and couldn't afford it. (If I remember correctly, it started around HKD 40,000 / TWD 140,000, which was beyond my means at the time.) The minimalist, understated style that's popular now was actually pioneered by Phoebe Philo back then. (What "row style"? Phoebe was already bored of that!) The Phoebe Philo era was undoubtedly Celine's most brilliant period in my eyes. From her appointment to her departure was exactly a golden decade. When I grew up, I finally bought a Cabas tote from a vintage store during a trip to Japan, and I still use it today! (The Cabas tote I've been using myself is a pale yellow, not the black one being sold now, so please don't worry...) Seriously, someone once asked me what's the best tote bag? Regardless of the era, I would always say the Cabas Tote is No. 1. Even after all these years, I've had various versions, sizes, and materials of tote bags (I'm such a flirt....), but the Cabas Tote remains forever first. My absolute favorite, no questions asked! It's the simplest, lightest, and truly the best to use! The design itself needs no further explanation; it's a timeless, minimalist piece that will never go out of style, even in thirty or forty years. Coupled with a tote bag made of good quality material in good condition, it's something you can use and rely on even when your hair turns white. Look at how many Korean bags have copied this. (Don't tell me this design is too common to be called a copy. Then why do many "niche brands" even place their brand name in the same position and use hot stamping?) This bag has a very large capacity and is extremely practical, suitable for shopping or everyday use. The bag looks large, and yes, it is actually very large! But it looks surprisingly good when worn, with great versatility. Even as a small-statured shop owner, it works without overwhelming my frame. Because it's made of soft lambskin, it has a relaxed, unstructured feel without sharp edges. When filled, the bag drapes casually, exuding a natural, effortless vibe! Pair it with a fitted top and wide-leg or skinny pants for a casual street style; this is the shop owner's favorite comfortable holiday outfit! The CABAS series offers many color and material combinations. I personally prefer this pure leather version because it's the simplest and lightest. When using a tote, you usually intend to carry a lot, so the bag's own weight must be minimal, and it doesn't need too many compartments. The ideal state is to be able to throw anything in it! For shopping, it can lead to impulse buys that drain your wallet. It's large enough to fit sneakers with their boxes and still have some extra space! My most extreme personal shopping example is during the Lunar New Year. Every year, I'm busy preparing various New Year goods, including pastries. I use my Cabas Tote the most, putting everything I buy inside. It gets so full that even the plastic bags overflow, but there are absolutely no issues with usability. The shoulder straps are fine, the bag body is fine, the connecting seams are fine; the only thing affected is my hands! Roughly calculating by purchase year, practicality, usage, and condition, it's the most cost-effective and worthwhile bag among all my personal keepsakes. That pale yellow Cabas tote, used for many years and heavily loaded, is still in beautiful condition apart from some wear on the four corners. This is a tangible return on personal use; after so many years of practical use, the leather has gained a beautiful sheen with no obvious major flaws! In the pre-owned market, the value and status of the Cabas Tote series have always been solid. Beautiful pieces are no longer as common as they used to be. If you find one you like, you should seize the opportunity. I now select this tote based on my own acceptable condition and aesthetic standards, so only truly beautiful pieces are acquired. As a result, I find maybe one every one or two years. The last one I found and purchased was three years ago. . . . . ⚐⚑˒˒The bag is in beautiful condition, and its appearance is a rare find. It comes with the original dust bag, authenticity card, and a CELINE catalog (very rare). The front of the bag features beautiful small gold-stamped CELINE lettering, clean and pure, the most beautiful French logo from the Phoebe era. The classic black is the most versatile color; every girl and woman of any age absolutely needs a black TOTE! The front and back of the bag have no obvious major flaws, no indentations/peeling, only minor signs of use and light scratches. The four corners and the bottom have minor signs of use, with slight wear on the tips of the corners, but to an extent that you can only see upon close inspection. The common flaw for this style is significant wear and peeling on the bottom and corners, but this one thankfully doesn't have that level of damage. And when worn, these signs of wear are not visible. When you wear it, it has a soft, relaxed drape, and the signs of use blend in naturally. The key point is that, as you can see from the photos, the leather of the entire bag has a natural sheen and is in excellent condition, looking very new! It has no sense of being old. The edges of the shoulder strap have very light wear, but no major peeling or breakage issues; the strap is firmly attached. The seams where the shoulder strap connects are intact, with no cracks or loose stitching. The leather edge of the bag opening is not loose, with signs of use but not noticeable. The interior is original lambskin, with normal signs of use and slight discoloration around the bag opening due to use (this is the biggest flaw). However, there is no peeling or aging. The only compartment is a small zippered pocket with the CELINE brand embossed on it. The entire bag is made of soft lambskin and is lightweight! Overall, there are only minor, inconspicuous signs of use, and the condition is beautiful! This is absolutely suitable for any age! Furthermore, it comes with an OLD CELINE dust bag (white linen), authenticity card, and a CELINE catalog (having the catalog is super rare!). I must mention the quality of the Phoebe era CÉLINE dust bags; the white linen version is truly excellent, top-tier quality! Better than CC/L! Thick exterior linen with a fine interior fleece, the fine interior fleece truly provides excellent protection for the bag; the pure white with black text is simple and beautiful! (Some dust bags aren't great at protecting the bag...) The quality of this old Celine dust bag is so high that it can be DIYed; just add a strap and it becomes another tote, sturdy enough! In the past, most pre-owned items were handmade; there was no mass production by machines, only the warmth of craftsmanship. The skill of artisans is definitely much more delicate than machines, just like how everyone loves products made by skilled artisans! However, today, most processes are done by machines with minimal human assembly, losing the delicacy of the past. I think the simplest and most direct way to see this is to compare the new monogram reproductions from recent years with the true monograms from older eras. The level of detail in the monogram patterns alone is completely different. If you love monograms, please look for pre-owned items! Truly! In terms of style, older eras were simpler, timeless, and more durable. Many new designs today are actually reproductions of older styles. However, new items are priced higher than older ones. New designs are usually based on older styles with added details or design changes, and the final product always ends up more complex (or strange...) than the older versions. I believe that as you grow older, you understand one thing: the simpler, the longer it lasts!! As you age, your clothing choices will also return to basic styles because the more basic, the more versatile. The quality of raw materials in older items is superior to new ones. If you understand leather, you'll see that the materials in new items are mostly inferior to older ones. The main reason is that the cost of high-quality materials is too high now, and the quantity is not as much as before; Earth's resources are dwindling! Plus, back then, brands didn't have as many "ubiquitous" branches everywhere... The majority of customers had a certain income and certain expectations for the finished product. There was no "fast fashion culture" back then; a bag was expected to be used for many years. The difference between new and old eras is very evident in the hardware. The hardware on many new bags oxidizes and discolors after one or two years, but older models usually don't. Besides the high-quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship, the hardware from earlier eras was plated with real K-gold! I must mention that Chanel Vintage is expensive for a reason; many of its clasps and chains contain real gold, certified by gold merchants! Therefore, many Vintage bags from as early as the 1960s and 70s, if well-preserved, still shine today. As for the new models available now, as far as I know, none of the brands' hardware contains K-gold anymore, so they tend to oxidize easily. Many people say buying Vintage bags is a form of alternative investment because they rarely depreciate and only appreciate in value. This is because good-condition pre-owned bags are becoming increasingly scarce in the market; one less existing means one less gone forever. Remember, each of them is a discontinued item. The number of existing ones in the world is all there is, so they will only become fewer, more expensive, and harder to find. Also, many brands raise their prices periodically, and each increase drives up the pre-owned market price. Or, if a brand releases a "reproduction," the Vintage reference or similar styles will directly increase in price! Furthermore, with the recent trend of Japanese and Korean celebrities using vintage items, once a particular style is seen with a celebrity, its price skyrockets, truly skyrockets. Because during that period, many people will be frantically searching for that style or a similar alternative, and the prices of those few styles will multiply... So, Vintage is truly about enjoying it early; buying late means paying more (this is not an advertisement slogan... it's the truth in the pre-owned world...). This is my personal experience; I regret being late to enter the market for many series and can't find them anymore. Even if I find them, they cost a fortune... But the problem is, even if you know it's a fortune, you have no choice but to buy it because waiting for the next one will only be more expensive (unless the condition is poor). My personal habit is to take them out for maintenance when I organize my closet at the change of seasons (so each seasonal change is a big project...|||). Pre-owned bags aren't that troublesome. When you're new to it, you just need to get used to regular maintenance and cherishing the bag. Once it becomes a habit, it's not difficult. Pre-owned bags are made of excellent materials. As long as you don't use them roughly and preserve them properly, they can last for another ten years and be passed on to your daughter!
