About Copal Resin: I've previously encountered shamans from the true Inca tradition, and essentially, their ritual incense is White Copal. The name "Copal" originates from "copalli," the Spanish word for "incense," which reflects its purpose. Copal resin ranges in color from pale yellow, orange, red, to white. This resin is derived from trees of the genus Bursera. It is related to Frankincense and Myrrh trees. Trees that produce Copal resin are found throughout the Americas. It is only a few million years younger than true amber, and even an untrained eye would find it difficult to distinguish the difference. Some Copal forms resemble amber, with the vast majority dating between 50 to 10,000 years old, while some amber is millions of years old. Colombian Copal resin typically ranges from 250 to 10,000 years old. Some scientists claim the oldest Copal resin is 33,000 years old, found in Misunani, Japan. Ultimately, Copal resin becomes amber if it ages long enough, and they share very similar vibrational frequencies. Place it over incense powder (e.g., sandalwood powder, palo santo powder, etc.) and burn them together. 2. Use charcoal tablets. You don't need to use a whole tablet at once; break off a quarter or half. Use a lighter to heat the charcoal tablet until it glows red (be extremely careful when burning, handling, or moving the charcoal tablet to avoid injury). Place the resin you wish to burn onto the hot charcoal. A small amount of good resin is very fragrant. 3.
