"Half a Century of Housing Justice."
Following Taiwan's economic boom in the 1960s, coupled with the post-war baby boomer generation and the migration of rural populations to urban employment, a significant demand for family housing emerged. Consequently, the government initiated the National Housing Program in 1975, constructing uniform, five-story, two-unit modernist residential buildings across Taiwan. Looking back, while features like the absence of elevators, lack of parking spaces, and window air conditioning openings might seem outdated today, it's undeniable that these national housing units were once the warmest homes for many Taiwanese in the late 20th century.
