However, like silver, brass can oxidize, darkening in color due to exposure to rain, sweat, and air. While some embrace this natural patina, you can maintain its original luster by following these tips: ♦ Avoid contact with water. ♦ Store in a resealable bag when not being worn. If the luster begins to dull, these simple methods can help restore your item's original brilliance. Please note that abrasions may affect the surface finish, and while color can be restored, the original shine might not be fully recovered (though the muted, antique bronze look is also beautiful!). ♦ Gently scrub with a toothbrush dipped in a small amount of foaming toothpaste or tooth powder, similar to brushing your teeth, to restore shine. Be sure to dry thoroughly afterward. ♦ Use a silver polishing cloth for a quick shine (not suitable for brushed finishes). ♦ Briefly soak the brass item in a diluted mixture of lemon juice for about 5 minutes to quickly restore shine (do not use on natural beads like pearls that are sensitive to acid).
