โโโ ใAmber Introductionใโโโ
Amber from the coast of the Baltic Sea is unique, being the only sea amber origin. The Baltic coast spans numerous countries, with Poland, Lithuania, and Russia being the most renowned for their amber production.
Baltic amber is highly transparent, making it easy to observe the rich inclusions within. It dates back approximately 30 to 60 million years, from the Early Eocene to Late Oligocene epochs. Much of it formed in the "Blue Earth," a layer of blue clay extending into the Baltic Sea below the water table. After storms, it was swept into the sea and washed ashore.
The largest amber deposits in the Baltic region are found in Kaliningrad, Russia. Kaliningrad borders Poland and Lithuania and is an exclave of Russia, formerly part of Prussia before being renamed Kaliningrad after becoming part of Russia. Baltic amber exhibits an extremely rich spectrum of colors; freshly mined amber is typically lemon yellow or orange, appearing either cloudy (like beeswax) or transparent. Transparent amber clearly reveals insects and other inclusions, while opaque beeswax conceals its interior, except for surface elements like bark and roots. Exposure to air or seawater for at least 50 years oxidizes the amber's surface to a deep orange or red. The vast majority of Baltic amber contains succinic acid, beneficial to the human body, which is why it is also known as succinite.
The English word "Amber" originates from the Latin "Ambrum," meaning "essence." Opaque amber is also known as "beeswax." It is fossilized resin from coniferous trees, dating back 45 to 99 million years, formed through geological processes into an organic mixture. Its primary component is sticky resin, which sometimes traps plants and animals.
"Beeswax" is a type of amber, named for its honey-like color and wax-like texture. The saying "Thousand-year amber, ten-thousand-year beeswax" highlights its esteemed status. In reality, amber and beeswax often occur together and require millions of years of high pressure underground to form, representing a long and natural creation process. The proverbs "Ten years to share a boat, a hundred years to share a bed, a thousand years for amber, ten thousand years for beeswax" underscore the preciousness of amber and beeswax.
โโโ ใAmber Benefitsใโโโ
Amber is one of the seven treasures of Buddhism, possessing powerful properties for warding off evil and eliminating negative energy, and is used in making Buddhist prayer beads. In ancient Europe, amber was used to craft crucifixes as tools for exorcism and protection. In Nordic countries, fishermen wore amber for safety and smooth voyages at sea.
Amber and beeswax contain succinic acid, beneficial for restlessness, heart palpitations, insomnia, and convulsions. Amber's weightiness calms the spirit and stabilizes the mind. For afflictions of the spirit, such as unsettledness, fear, insomnia, forgetfulness, and excessive dreaming, it can provide a calming effect. It is used for conditions of blood stagnation. This substance enters the heart and liver meridians, promoting blood circulation, unblocking channels, and dissipating accumulations. It can be used to treat blood stasis and swelling, menstrual irregularities and pain, stabbing chest and abdominal pain, and various other blood stagnation syndromes.
โโโ ใInteracting with Your Amberใโโโ
For amber bracelets and sacred objects:
1. Hold the item in your palm, make a heartfelt wish for good fortune, and then wear it.
2. If you visit places with negative energy, purify the item with incense upon returning home to maintain its auspicious effects.
3. To enhance relationships or if you feel your finances have been weak lately, gently rub the amber regularly to reawaken its energy.
โโใCare and Precautionsใโโ
1. Amber has a low hardness and is susceptible to drops, impacts, and collisions. Store it separately and avoid placing it with diamonds, other sharp, or hard jewelry.
2. Amber jewelry is sensitive to high temperatures. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or proximity to heaters. Excessive dryness can lead to cracks. Minimize exposure to drastic temperature fluctuations. Avoid contact with organic solvents such as alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, nail polish containing alcohol, perfumes, hairspray, and insecticides. Remove amber jewelry before spraying perfume or hairspray.
3. The best way to care for amber is to wear it regularly, as the body's natural oils will make the amber progressively shinier over time.
4. Remember to remove your amber before swimming, showering, or bathing. When not wearing it, gently wipe it clean, then store it in a pouch or box.
5. Natural products will inevitably have internal fractures, cloudiness, mineral inclusions, and variations in color banding. Buyers who do not mind these natural characteristics are welcome to purchase.
