【Designer: Chamilgarden】
Driven by a pure passion for stamp carving, this artisan dedicates each day to meticulously crafting stamps. Known as a "stamp carving professional," they also conduct carving workshops. Currently based in Taiwan, they live and work in an old apartment in Taipei, devoted to the art of stamp making. Previously, they worked as an editor for magazines and books. Now, their focus is solely on stamp design and creation. Each season, they release handmade, original stamps, with eight published collections featuring over 100 unique stamp designs. Their published books include "12 Hours a Week Handmade Life," "Rubber Stamps, Open the Door!", and "12 Lessons for Beginner Rubber Stampers: Next Stamp Class." Using erasers as their primary carving material, each stamp is slowly and carefully etched, one stroke at a time.
Their stamp designs are often inspired by everyday discoveries, travel experiences, and cherished interests, combining elements such as text, flora, geometric shapes, nature, and architecture. Through deconstruction and reassembly, intricate layering of lines and planes, accented by minimalist primary and secondary lines and foreign text, alongside meticulously placed symbols, they construct their stamp imagery. They enjoy pairing stamps and colors, exploring the unique interplay and collaborative potential of combining stamps of various sizes, and the beauty of repetition. Many of their graphic designs are derived from fragments of stamps, extended through the creative process of stamping and arrangement, yielding designs for items like postcards and washi tape.
