The artist carefully controls the thickness of each glaze application, followed by a 20-hour firing process at 1260°C. This intense heat transforms the glazes within the kiln, causing them to shrink and flow, thereby creating the intricate patterns and dynamic movement reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the firing temperature curve. Glazes that are too thin or fired at insufficient temperatures will fail to produce the characteristic "peacock display" patterns. Conversely, glazes that are too thick or fired at excessively high temperatures can cause the glaze to run onto the accompanying plate, potentially damaging both the cup and the plate. Even ambient temperature variations can influence the final outcome. Numerous factors interplay, and despite years of dedicated practice, achieving perfect predictability remains elusive. It is precisely this inherent variability that imbues each finished piece with its unique preciousness. The artist hopes this work inspires individuals to embrace hope in the face of adversity, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to ultimately unfurl their own beautiful "feathers," illuminating their lives with brilliance.
