This is a dedicated notebook for collecting Shuin (red stamps), which can be obtained at shrines and temples as proof of your visit.
Traditionally, Shuin consist of a red stamp with a motif of the shrine or temple and a handwritten inscription of the deity's name or the establishment's name in black ink. However, designs vary greatly from one place to another, and nowadays, many unique and personalized Shuin can be found.
In Kyoto, you can even collect Shuin at the Gion Matsuri festival floats.
More than just a collection of stamps, a Goshuincho filled with Shuin – treated with the same respect as amulets or charms – becomes a cherished keepsake, bringing back fond travel memories simply by looking through it.
