Gymnocalyx is found in tropical, subtropical and grassland climates with little rainfall, strong sunlight and high temperatures. The optimum temperature for growth is 20 - 35 ℃. When the temperature is below 10 °C or above 35 °C, growth slows down and a dormant period begins. The air humidity is not too high, and a well-ventilated environment is suitable. Avoid damp places and standing water.

Gymnocalyx are plants that like to be exposed to sunlight and UV rays and need enough sunlight to grow and bloom. It can be placed outdoors on a shady balcony or in the garden. However, during the hot summer months, prolonged exposure to the sun should be avoided, in which case they should be placed in a shady or cool place to avoid damaging the plants in the heat.

Gymnocalyx grows best on fertile, Stone, water-permeable soils with a pH of 6-7. Farming soil is usually mixed with 60% succulent soil + 20% peat soil + 20% sandy soil.
Gymnocalyx roots are very sensitive to hypoxia. If the soil doesn't breathe well and doesn't drain well, it can lead to root rot. To keep the soil aerated, replant each year to soften the soil.
