About the making process.
Starting from a sketch, the clay is shaped, dried slightly, and then refined through repeated steps. We create enough pieces to fill the kiln evenly, a process that takes about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours; after removal and a water wipe-down, each piece is individually glazed before the final firing of 12 hours. Some pieces may receive a gold glaze and are returned to the kiln for another 7 hours. As they require a slow cooling process, we wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Finally, each piece is inspected by hand, and pins are attached to the successful ones. The current success rate is around 70%.
Although this process requires considerable time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile feel of clay, the durability of pottery, the gloss of the glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents.
We hope it will be an item you can use and cherish for a long time, unchanged.
