If using a dishwasher or dish dryer, please place the items securely to prevent them from colliding due to vibrations during operation. . Fine cracks may appear on the surface after use; these are called "kintsugi" or "craze" and are a normal variation of the glaze. . For first-time use, prepare a pot of rice water. Line the bottom of the pot with a paper towel, submerge the vessel completely, and simmer for twenty minutes. Allow it to cool. The starch from the rice will fill the pores of the pottery, preventing future stains and odors. This process can be repeated after a period of use.
