Crafted from coarse red clay, this piece offers a delightfully rough texture and a comforting warmth unique to earthenware. The matte finish of the turquoise glaze creates a rich, deep blue. These two elements are combined in this soup cup. It's generously sized, larger than a typical soup cup, and can comfortably hold even the most ingredient-packed soups. Its vibrant color makes it ideal for showcasing creamy corn or potato soups, pumpkin soup, or minestrone—anything with white or bright ingredients. The wide shape also makes it a charming dessert cup, perfect for ice cream and fruit, perhaps drizzled with honey or maple syrup. Each piece is entirely handmade, from the initial clay preparation to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, using a small electric kiln and potter's wheel in my home studio. The plump, rounded form, the textured finish, and a slight heft all contribute to its authentic ceramic feel. While mass production isn't possible, each cup has its own unique character, offering the distinct charm of handcrafted items. The item you receive will be identical to those pictured. There are currently two available. As each piece has subtle variations in size and form, photographs of both are included at the end of the product images. If both are still available, you may select your preferred one by letting us know at the time of purchase. The base of each cup is carefully sanded to minimize any risk of scratching your table surfaces. Please note that capturing the exact shade of turquoise blue can be challenging in photographs. Depending on the light source, the actual color may appear slightly warmer or more yellowish than what is shown. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. To address this, all our tableware undergoes a waterproofing treatment using a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for initial soaking. This treatment requires 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement.
