In the indigenous Guaraní language, Ñandutí means "spider's web." True to its name, it is a delicate handicraft created with thread. Patterns are formed by stretching base threads and then weaving or knotting other threads into them. The embroidery is stiffened with sizing, and once the embroidered sections are separated from the fabric, Ñandutí is complete. The resulting texture is somewhat crisp and firm, maintaining its shape while retaining the softness characteristic of thread.
