Chur (Shchur, Churila) is a Slavic God created by Rod, the Creator of the World, to protect people. According to beliefs, Chur follows the kind of people, is closer to a person than other Gods, so he can always notice the danger in time and tell other Gods about it. So, thanks to the intervention of Chura and Veles, the God of the Three Worlds, Slavic Rhoda Cuts appeared – a system of divination that helps to look into the future to protect yourself from trouble.
Sometimes the Slavic God Chura is associated with the spirits of the Ancestors. The word "chur" is also heard in the word "ancestor" – that's what we call the ancestors. In addition, sometimes the figure-image of the ancestral spirit on the Slavic altar is called a Chur. The ancestors, like God Chur, keep the Slavic clans. However, the God Chur is still not one of our ancestors, but was created by the Genus among the first Slavic Gods.
