1950s Lausanne, Switzerland Manufactured Alpha 121 Dip Nib - Fine Medium Point (M~F)
A rare Swiss-made nib with excellent metal quality.
Suitable for general Chinese and English writing.
It writes smoothly and fluidly without scratching the paper.
The nib has a stronger steel structure, with relatively less flexibility.
This makes it less ideal for English calligraphy requiring significant line variation.
To improve ink flow, it's recommended to clean the nib with a mild detergent (such as hand soap) before use.
Writing sample shown uses: Paper One 100g copy paper with JH Black Pearl ink.
(A rare vintage item, not a modern reproduction. Available while supplies last.)
Important Usage Notes:
1. No need to heat or scrub with a toothbrush before use. If there's any oil from your hands, simply clean with a mild detergent (hand soap).
2. Some nibs may have horizontal or vertical marks from the factory. These were made intentionally before sale to ensure immediate usability and are not defects.
3. If oil contamination affects ink adhesion or flow (e.g., from touching with hands or wax on paper), a gentle wash with soap, followed by drying, will restore usability.
4. Clean and dry the nib promptly after use. Allow it to air dry completely before storing to prevent rust.
5. Minor corrosion on the pen body does not affect writing. However, rust on the nib itself will impact its performance.
6. As this is an artifact over 50 years old, some signs of age are to be expected. Occasional rust on the tail end of the nib, but not on the writing tip itself, does not affect writing quality.
