The art of silver filigree making in Vietnam was formed in VII century and is maintained until now. Every piece of jewelry must go through a variety of processes; each one can only be done by hand. In the beginning, the craftman melt the silver bricks and draw them into wires of different gauges, and then each wire is laminated into smaller thread. The thickness and flatness of the thread is determined by the design, the thinnest one is 0,26mm. After that, the craftman use different techniques to make each details of the design. Finally, all parts are shaped and soldered. This art of filigree making requires strength to control the fire and use heavy tools, yet the skilfullness to bend and twist little thread into tiny details.
