Artist: Kwood

Born in Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1983, Kwood's background in craft design led him to wander the streets of Japan, where he experienced how wooden art breathed warm, profound life into ancient alleyways. These objects, like fragments of time bearing traces of the past and outlines of the future, find a delicate balance between contrast and harmony, transforming into refined works that connect the perspectives of a new generation with the simplicity of old eras. Agarwood, once ground into powder for aromatic appreciation, was solemnly placed in the sunlit areas of homes in Japan, symbolizing vitality and light.
Sourced directly from its origin, this agarwood is pure and flawless, untouched by artificial processes like boiling resin, artificial scenting, or added fragrances. It is presented in its most natural state. Through ancient aroma-extraction techniques, the artist meticulously hand-peels the outer layers of the aged wood, revealing the true soul of the agarwood. This not only imbues it with eternal vitality but also allows traditional and modern craftsmanship to intertwine subtly under the fingertips, creating a feast for both sight and smell. Its rich fragrance, like solidified time, gently draws together memories of the past and aspirations for the future, allowing them to meet and resonate within the aroma, continuing endlessly, distant and profound.
