A Buddha statue recovered from a collapsed pagoda in the Mandalay region of Myanmar.
Depicting the Buddha alongside celestial beings and devotees.
This is a relatively rare form of seated Buddha imagery.
Estimated to date between the 18th-19th century (the antique dealer who brought it to Taiwan believed it to be even older...).
Having handled antiques for many years... it's best to conservatively estimate the age.
The sealant at the base of the statue is intact.
Bronze alloy.
Total height 13 cm, base width 16.3 cm, weight 1540 g.
The exterior has been cleaned.
Hard, cement-like soil adhered to the bronze Buddha has been removed, along with most of the green patina and oxidation.
