What is the wood-firing process?** We knead together American, Japanese, and Miaoli clay in different proportions. The creation process involves pure hand-pinching (not on a pottery wheel), slowly forming the shape. After basic shaping, the lines of the body are refined, then polished to complete the initial form. Once loaded into the kiln, the wood fire from natural longan and acacia wood burns continuously for five days and four nights. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this process, natural ash deposits adhere to the pieces, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, the flames within the kiln flow between the works, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple flame marks. After five days and four nights of ash deposition and flame interplay, it takes another week for cooling before a piece achieves its beautiful form! What should guests be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As works are purely handmade, they will bear the traces of the crafting process. Minor variations may also occur due to the firing process; slight irregularities in the rim or minor crafting scratches are normal and do not affect normal use.
