Introduction to Kutani ware
The dazzling treasure of Japanese painted ceramics "Kutani-yaki"
It is a painted ceramic ware representing traditional Japanese craftsmanship, originating from the Minami-Kaga region in the south of Ishikawa Prefecture
It is known as the pinnacle of painted ceramics for its exquisite craftsmanship and gorgeous colors
With a long history of more than 360 years, Kutani ware has become one of the most representative porcelain crafts in Japan
Not only is it famous for its bright and dazzling colors, but also for its innovative spirit that keeps pace with the times
It is deeply loved by enthusiasts in Japan and around the world. The name of Kutani ware comes from Kutani Village in Enuma County, Kaga Province (near Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture today).
Its origins can be traced back to the early Edo period, when porcelain was fired in Kutani Village deep in the Yamanaka Onsen in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Kutani ware uses its unique "Kutani Five Colors" - five Japanese hard color pigments of green, yellow, red, purple and indigo, to "paint"
(the technique of painting patterns on the glaze), presenting a colorful and rich visual effect
This has also become one of its most distinctive features. With the evolution of the times, Kutani ware has been constantly innovating and integrating traditional and modern designs
Not only has it retained the classic five-color style, it has also actively connected with contemporary popular culture.
