Xiao-Min is a young woman with moderate intellectual disabilities who works in the kitchen at Maria Social Welfare Foundation.
Xiao-Min joined the kitchen team at Maria's when she was 18 and has been working there for over 10 years.
Although she experienced intellectual disabilities and limited verbal expression due to oxygen deprivation at birth,
and also has congenital visual impairment, making her eyes prone to losing focus and lacking depth perception,
She has overcome her visual recognition challenges step by step. Starting with sorting vegetables,
she gradually took on tasks like stirring large pots of food and plating dishes, becoming a capable assistant to the kitchen chefs.
While she may not perceive depth,
Xiao-Min expresses her joys and sorrows through vibrant, high-contrast flat color blocks, bold lines, and colorful palettes.
And just like anyone else, after class, she would secretly give her favorite teachers small pieces of paper filled with drawings of them.
Where there is passion, life will find its way.
