You might not have heard of indoor slippers being repairable, have you?
In fact, the studio has always offered this service, but not many people have utilized it. We'd like to promote the idea that the design of slippers is not just about looking good and feeling comfortable, but also about being repairable.
--- Material Introduction: Why These Materials Were Chosen ---
△ Midsole Material
Why was the more expensive "Italian-made belly leather" chosen for the midsole?
From a cost perspective, a split leather could suffice. However, the greatest advantage of top-grain leather is its "grain." With this grain, the fiber structure within the leather is less prone to loosening and is more robust, allowing for repeated sanding and repair. This is also why top-grain leather is more expensive.
△ Stitching
The stitching design utilizes thick thread that runs through all the materials, enhancing firmness and reducing the risk of delamination and cracking. The thick thread also presents a superior texture. Furthermore, thicker threads are easier to cut open than the finer threads used in standard stitching.
△ Anti-slip Rubber Sole
Rubber is one of the more wear-resistant sole materials (compared to EVA, foamed rubber, etc.). The sole was chosen because few slippers on the market feature anti-slip functionality. Additionally, the sole can be detached and replaced after it wears down.
--- Material Introduction Ends ---
1. Upper leather covering the instep (We will discuss replacement based on the extent of damage)
2. Insole leather
3. Latex padding for the insole (This must be replaced during the repair process)
4. Rubber sole (This must be replaced during the repair process)
5. Re-stitching of the slippers
The process involves dismantling the stitching and materials, cleaning them, and reusing the midsole. New materials are then attached, and various components are replaced. This is a follow-up service exclusively for slipper products made by our studio.
