This picture hopes to convey the image of safety and prosperity.
There are no native species of tigers in Taiwan. I don’t know if it’s because of this, but the tigers that appear in many traditional sculptures tend to be cute, rather than full of fangs and ferocious.
Since I have always had a special liking for cats, when I have the opportunity to visit temples, I will spend a lot of time standing in front of tigers to observe and appreciate them.
An old proverb says: "Enter the dragon's throat, the Lord will be rich; out of the tiger's mouth, the Lord will be safe."
It may also be because of the mention of leaving the tiger's mouth in this sentence, the Lord is safe, which aroused the idea of creating this work.
The main source of inspiration is that for a long time, I liked to take a walk to the Longshan Temple in Lukang near the studio in my free time, and the tiger in the temple was engraved with a picture of "The Love of a Tiger" stone reliefs. The threaded lines express the sharp eyes, and the little tiger is by the side to show the deep affection of the tiger.
