This concept originates from the Western proverb, "No rose without a thorn." It's a lovely saying, suggesting that everyone has their flaws! As I was idly pondering this, I discovered beautiful flowers online. Oh, how lovely! I clicked through page after page of exquisite blooms... Until, finally, my screen was filled with images of dangerous, poisonous flowers. So, when OTUTUMI reimagined this as a proverb, it became: "Beautiful flowers have a dark side." Simply changing "thorns" to "poison" significantly elevates the sense of danger... This is how the collection theme, "Beautiful Flowers with a Dark Side, Encapsulated by OTUTUMI," came to be. First, we have the overly charming Bell-shaped Clematis. This plant, belonging to the Ranunculaceae family, contains a toxin called protoanemonin in its sap, which can cause dermatitis and gastrointestinal issues if accidentally ingested. Oh my, how terrifying! The more beautiful the flower, the more poisonous it is. OTUTUMI is captivated by such flowers. This fourth collection will continue as long as these poisonous flowers exist...
