Product Description

Dimensions: Diameter 8cm, Handle Length 11.5cm, Height 7.2cm Capacity: Approximately 300ml Material: Porcelain Place of Origin: Seto, Japan Appliance Compatibility: Microwave safe; Not suitable for dishwasher or oven use Seto True Kiln was established in 1919 in a small town in northeastern Seto City, nestled amidst the rural hills of "Shin-yao" (True Kiln). Every creation of hand-painted artwork, every design of flowers and plants, exudes a spiritual aura, offering a healing touch of everyday beauty. Over nearly a century, it has produced numerous captivating products. In 1997, Seto Sometsuke Ware was designated as a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry. Since the 11th century during Japan's Heian period, the Seto region has been synonymous with ceramic ware and was once the largest producer of ceramics. In the 19th century, the introduction of mass production and sometsuke techniques from Kyushu by Tamekichi Kato paved the way for sometsuke craftsmanship in Seto. Sometsuke is a technique using a blue dye called "Gosu," which, when applied to different porcelain clays, glazes, and firing methods, creates the most beautiful blue and white contrasts. Utilizing unique hand-painting techniques with large, sturdy brushes, artisans depict Gosu on the surface of porcelain, expressing a variety of shades and depths. Only craftsmen with many years of experience can paint the stunning beauty of blue and white that is truly awe-inspiring. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53759204923_0ba3c45121_o.png https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53758098757_47c8bb42d8_o.png
