**About the Brand:**
Initially, American jewelers Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger established the "Coro" company in New York in the 19th century. However, the first branded jewelry was not "CORO" but "CR," as the name incorporated the first two letters from each partner's name. Sadly, Emanuel Cohn passed away in 1910, but the name remained Cohn & Rosenberger (CR). By the mid-1920s, "Coro" had become the largest jewelry producer on the continent. In 1937, the company began marking its higher-end "Coro Craft" products. Notably, Coro had several subsidiary companies. Francois, in particular, was established for marketing purposes, promoting a better and more expensive jewelry line. This brand produced jewelry between 1944 and 1960. Another "daughter" company, "Vendome," produced fine jewelry from 1944 to 1979. After World War II, trademarks included "Corocraft," "Coro Pegasus," and "Coro Originals." Ultimately, "Coro" ceased jewelry production in 1979.

This is a bright and beautiful vintage Coro Duette brooch from 1941. Coro Duettes were designed with a metal frame to which two individual fur clips were fastened. The frame had a pin attached that enabled the assembly to be worn as a brooch. The pins could also be detached from the frame and worn individually as fur clips. This particular Duette is a double bird clip called Calopsita birds. It was designed by Gene Verrecchio who was probably Coro’s most famous designer.
This lovely pin is done in fiery tropical shades of orange, hot pink, purple, and blue. The setting is silver tone with rhodium plating. The pin is marked Coro Duette and Pat. No 1798867. It was patented in 1941.
